Health professional who provides care to the pregnant woman throughout her pregnancy, participates in the delivery as the primary care provider, and provides the required care and follow-up for the first six weeks following the birth.
Ensures follow-up of the newborn during this period.
Able to detect risks for pregnant women and newborns early on.
Has the necessary skills, training and equipment to assure the parents that the birth of their child will take place in a safe environment.
If there are complications, the midwife provides the necessary care consults with a physician or transfers the mother and the child to a hospital centre based on the gravity of the situation.
Midwives are available 24/7 and are involved throughout pregnancy, labour, delivery and the postnatal period.
Perform the other duties as maybe assigned to you from time to time by the corporation.
